I love this movie! I like the chemistry between John Wayne and Lee Marvin. I think Marvin steals the show in this one. He does so many funny bits: he has a quart of beer tied around his arm for awhile, I love when he smashes the sailor guy in the beginning and then asks for "permission to leave the ship" and jumps overboard, he gets super-excited to receive a toy train set and then proceeds to assemble it in record time.....I could go on and on. So much fun stuff in this film.

I love Hatari! It's almost the perfect movie. For me watching is like a mental vacation. The only thing I'd change is Red Buttons. I tried to imagine who from that time would have been a better replacement and I came up with Bob Denver. That would have been pre-Gilligan. Any thoughts?

Hey everyone. I'm a longtime John Wayne fan from Florida. I'm 50, married with 3 college-age kids and I love to watch John Wayne movies. My top 5 in no particular order are El Dorado, Hatari!, The Quiet Man, Rio Bravo, and Donovan's Reef. I watch them every time they're on TV.
Besides liking his movies, I admire the Duke's politics and the way he treated people. I wish more guys were like him today.
