I stand corrected. It's wrong to lump them all together because odds are, there are a few good politicians. I just wish we had more like him to vote into the offices the bad ones have.

I think the time has come to forget about Republicans and Democrats because they are all alike. The folks in Washington are too busy patting each other on the back, with their hands in peoples pockets.
What they don't seem to realize is that most of us work for a living. I'm proud to be an American citizen and I still believe in what our Founding Fathers wanted for us....
I'm willing to fight for it, even if it's my own government I have to fight.
It's time the politicians were reminded of who they are supposed to be working for. My pitchfork and torches are ready.
Hey Stumpy - can Oklahoma come with Texas when they secede?

I read a quote from country singer Toby Keith the other day.
He said "My lefty friends think I'm a Nazi, and my righty friends think I'm a hippie."
I think a lot of us fall into that category. I wish it was more important to focus on right and wrong instead of right or left.

What a great lineage! There have always been stories on my Dad's side that there was a Cherokee connection but I haven't been able to run it down.....the funny thing is, I'm often asked what tribe I belong to because of my dark complexion...my answer is "Bohemian".......my Mom is full blood Czech! Both sides of her family immigrated to Indian Territory and Texas in the 1840's and have been here ever since.

My folks live on the Okie side of the Red River so we are virtually neighbors! Unlike a lot of Okies, I love Texas and consider it my second home. All of my grandparents came from Texas so I guess I'm a little Texan too !

Love, love, love this movie! And I have to say I think Kim Darby was a perfect fit for the role. To me, she showed the strength and determination to do what had to be done in spite of the fact that she really was just a little girl. Maybe it's because I was just about her age when the movie was first released but I think it was the first time I realized that just because I was a girl, it didn't mean I couldn't be and do anything I set my mind to....

Thanks to everyone for the warm welcomes ! I look forward to sharing stories with you all. It's a comfort to know I'm not alone in my love and respect for the Duke.
    Happy Trails!

My kids have dragged me kicking and screaming into the 21st Century with a new computer and internet....so of course the first thing I did was to look for John Wayne fans to share with! I'm new to all of this so it may take a while for me to catch on. Just watched True Grit for the millionth time.....I was the same age as Kim Darby when they made the movie so I've always been a little jealous....that should have been me! The Duke has been my hero since I was a very little girl. Anyway, I look forward to sharing info and stories with you all in the days to come.
