It could be Errol Flynn you are thinking of. He appeared in an early Australian movie version of Mutiny on the Bounty called In the Wake of the Bounty (1933).

Harry,
I'd recommend Along Came Jones (1945) and Vera Cruz (1954) any day. Both are great movies and both are on DVD. Also The Westerner (1940) and The Plainsman (1936) are both on DVD.
I'd also like to recommend For Whom the Bell Tolls (1943). It's a war movie, not a Western, but it's a really good movie. Also the DVD of this movie is EXCELLENT. When I first saw it, I couldn't believe how sharp and clear the picture was. For a movie this old, this was one of the best DVD transfers I've ever seen.

Hello All
Does lee marvin play a villain or good guy in this one? murray
Well, he's definitely not a good guy in this one. I'd recommend you watch it yourself and find out. It's actually quite a complex character he plays in this one.

There's a nice interview with Burt Kennedy at:

He offered some nice insight about working with Duke.

I'm not exactly certain how I got HERE, as I was all over IMDb trying to find out how Duke's movies rank (are there any in the top 250??), and in the course of my wandering, came upon this page, which lists (admittedly old) news stories that make mention of JW. Some interesting reading, some of which I had not read before. I hope you enjoy this little snippet of our beloved Duke in the news, thanks to IMDb.Mrs. C

The only two Duke movies currently in the IMDb Top 250 are The Searchers and The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance; though Stagecoach, Red River, Rio Bravo, and The Quiet Man were all there last year. You may also want to check out THIS IMDb link, which shows the ratings of only Western titles.

Well, I hate to dig this stuff up again, but as of today, this piece of garbage has officially cracked the IMDb Top 250 (it's currently occupying the #250 spot right now). What a joke.
Moderator note - Not wanting to bring this topic back up by posting to the thread, I will add here that as of April 5, 2009, Brokeback Mountain is no longer in the Top 250 at IMDb. Unfortunately, as of this date, there are NO John Wayne movies on that list, either. Chester

As has already been discussed many times on this site, Paramount purchased the rights to the Republic film library last year. They have discontinued the Republic DVD's, and will likely release them under their own banner sometime in the future.

For those of you who are Bogart fans, there is a very good movie out there called The Enforcer (1951). This is one of those movies that is excellent, but has virtually no reputation today. It's not as good as, say, Casablanca, The Big Sleep, The Maltese Falcon, or Key Largo. But, I'd put it right up there with High Sierra and Dark Passage. It's definitely a must-see for Bogart fans.

MarkI wasnt being critical, I recognised that it was the outfit that Duke wore in Badman.
Can anybody shed some light on this deleted still, maybe chillibill knows.

Robbie,
Most lobby cards were posed pictures taken by the publicity people, and bore no relation to any scenes in the movie.
As for my guess, I'm going to say Flying Tigers.

From EJ's remarks, I can say that I am glad that Jimmy Stewart is among the few who did not succumb to the charms of Marlene Dietrich (or maybe she wasn't interested in him). She was certainly an interesting woman.

I'm afraid you misunderstood me, Mrs. C. Jimmy Stewart most definitely did get involved with Marlene, as did Gary Cooper and Duke. In fact, there's even a rumor that Stewart may have gotten Marlene pregnant.
It was Fred MacMurray who refused her advances. Sorry for not being clear about that.
