    Hi Arthur -
If I'm not mistaken, didn't Ford give Danny Borzage some scenes in a few of his movies, especially "The Searchers?"
    Cheers - Jay ^^

    Cheers - Jay:beer:
    "Not hardly!!!"

  • Hi Jay

Borzage a[ppeared in 24 pictures 14 of which were either directed by John Ford or had John Wayne in them, by that I include Mr Roberts which was begun by Ford but finished by Mervyn LeRoy after Ford and Fonda fell out.

  • Hi Arthur and Jay,

Apparently Ford's favourite tunes, amongst others, that Danny played, were
'Bringing in the Sheaves', 'Red River Valley, and
'Wild Colonial Boy'(No guessing which film, that was in!)
Duke also, liked the idea, he had him on The Alamo set.

    After working 18 hour days,Michael, Wayne,fondly recalled,
the long, quiet Monument Valley nights, the sound of
Danny Borgaze's accordion, or a lone singers voice, floating across the desert air, and the flash lightning in the pitch black sky.

    Best Wishes
    Keith

This just about wraps up the dark days of the early summer of 1979 when Duke passed away, hopefully these notes will give everyone an understanding of the man and what he meant to many people, and now it is time to move on to remember more happier times in Dukes life.

Ok if 15 years ago she was 53 that would have made her roughly 24 years old when making The Comancheros. I always thought she was older then that. If you look at IMBD.com she was acting up till her death in 1989. Anybody have info on how/why she died?

Life is hard, its even harder when your stupid!!
    -John Wayne

  • Hi Viper

Ina Balin led a strange life she was an American Jewish actress born in Brooklyn and educated at the New York University. She also worked as a model. She dreamed of becoming an actress at the age of seven. At seventeen she went into repertory and by the age of twenty she was appearing on Broadway in the female lead in the play Compulsion. within six months she had made her film debut in The Black Orchid.

Off screen she assisted in the evacuation of 100s of Vietnamise children and in 1976 after the war she showed her committment to the cause by adopting three of these children.

Her screen work during the 1960's was good to average and she did work successfully in television.

On 20th June 1990 she died from pulmonary hypertension.

As I recall, Self also was in "The Thing - From Another World." He was the guy who covered up the block of ice that contained "the thing"with an electric blanket, inadvertently releasing the creature from its icy prison and causing all the havoc that ultimately ensued.
