  • I finally watched "Dances with Wolves" a couple of days ago. I cannot believe I missed such a great movie all these years.

Broken Trail was also just on TV. Robert Duvall is perfectly suited for the Western Film genre. I love the hat that he wore in the film so much, I may just buy a reproduction of the hat that I found online.

Now, for you Duke purists, there is John Wayne cavalry hat available as well!

  • The Tall T (1957)
A great western directed by Budd Boetticher with Randy Scott and the all time great Richard Boone. Maureen O'Sullivan also had a big part and Henry Silva was the usual bandit.

    Riding Shotgun (1954)
An interesting Western with Randy Scott. As riding shotgun of a stagecoach he got accused beeing involved in a violent stagecoach raid. Charlie Bronson was also in the supporting cast as outlaw.

"You're too good to give a chance to." John Wayne as Cole Thornton in El Dorado (1966)

  • Escape from Fort Bravo with William Holden, and Eleanor Parker. A pretty good western. We also see a young John Forsythe.

    Cheers

  • Bonanza, I laughed at the town drunk in it when the townspeople were running out of the saloon thinking trouble was coming and Twirly Boggs said, "quick somebody help me save the whiskey."

  • Breakheart Pass (1975)
A great Western Thriller with Charles Bronson, his wife Jill Ireland, Richard Crenna and the all time great Ben Johnson  More or the less the whole plot takes place on a train in a snowy landscape. The movie is after a novel of Alistar MacLean (Guns of Navarone, Where Eagels dare ...)

    Valdez is coming (1971)
Another great Western with Burt Lancaster as deputy Bob Valdez. Interestingly the movie was photographed in Almeria (Spain).

Was there any Western of Duke directed in Almeria? Don't think so.

  • "Trooper Hook" (1957)
    - Joel McCrea. Barbra Stanwyck

    Plot Synopsis: IMDB

Traveling by stagecoach they learn that Nanches has escaped and it's not long before he and his warriors show up intent on reclaiming the boy.

Phantom's Review: Well acted, but standard western adventure. Plenty of action and some good performances, but overall, nothing memorable.

They'd never forget the day,the stranger rode into town

  • The Sundowners. A late 60's early 70s movie. Thought it was a pretty good
