Ed Norton is great. Probably not the sort of film you guys would watch, but for me
it has to be up there with Rushmore, my fave Aderson film.

It's a fantastic new wave/noir movie. So stylish it almost hurts.

Snow White and the Huntsman. A very interesting take on the fairy tale that wasn't really a fairy Tale. Just a way to distort our childhood stories, but what's new.

Saw "Lincoln" and was impressed with all of the performances, but found it a bit preachy and a tad too long.
The supporting roles by Tommy Lee Jones, James Spader, Bruce McGill, Walton Goggins, Sally Field, Jackie Earle Haley, John Hawkes, Tim Blake Nelson, Jared Harris and many others are flawless.
Daniel Day-Lewis has already won the Best Actor award. He humanizes Lincoln as a down to earth, intuitive, sly and profoundly principled man, who does (reluctantly) suborn those principals for the greater good as he sees it.
Don't want to give any more away.
I admired this film, but doubt I'll sit through it again.

Part Two Rolling Stones: Crossfire Hurricane

Three movie holiday weekend.
Flight. Denzel Washington. Another fine acting job by this great actor.
Skyfall. This maybe the best Bond movie ever. I own them all.Big Bond fan.
Lincoln. One of Mr. lewis great acting performances.
This will be a fight for best actor between Washington and Daniel Day Lewis.

Ya know Bill, I was an ardent fan of Ian Fleming, and read all the Bond books I hadn't and waited with baited breath for any new ones. I really had a Bond character entrenched in my mind. When I first saw Sean Connery in Dr. No at the theater, (I was 12 or so), I felt as if my characterization had been embodied, truly. I had never remembered seeing SC before, so this was a real treat to find him exactly as I had envisioned Bond in all the books. I THINK it was Thunderball, (if it was filmed in the Bahamas), where, in an underwater rehearsal and some "monkeying around", he shot, by accident, my friend, Johnny "Pool" in the leg with a speargun. Johnny was an old timer, very well known around the Bahamas, Keys and Miami Beach for treasure diving, salvage diving, etc. He and Sean hit it off...hard not to with Johnny...such a character and full of marvelous stories. Whenever he was truly broke, he always seemed to get someone to drive him to a coin collector friend's business where he came out with a pocket full of money. Even though he and his girlfriend Patti, lived with me in an ocean front efficiency for almost a year, he never told me where his stash was or WHAT it was. We all just assumed, in all his diving years, he must have stumbled upon an old wreck with a number of dubloons or something of the sort.
Sorry, carried away again. Anyway, I watched the first James Bond without Sean and that was it. Never tried again. Guess I just prefer to keep Sean in my mind as Bond forever, LOL. Bet I am missing out on some good ones now. Think the first was Roger Moore? Anyway, he was so far off the mark that it almost ruined it for me forever.
I still very much enjoy watching the Old Bonds....think there were seven or so. Is there one particular one that you think I might actually LIKE as Bond. I am willing to try again since you know them all and are a fan as I.

I can see you are a little long in the tooth like me.
I read the Bond books when I was in high school. After seeing From Russia with Love.
Sean Connery is and will always be the number one Bond.
Roger Moore made Bond more like a comic book.
But Daniel Craig has taken Bond back to the Bond of the books.
All I can say is watch his Casino Royale and judge for yourself.
All three of his Bond movies are worth the time.

"Gammera The Invincible" (1966)

Plot:
After the atomic bombs carried by a shot-down Soviet bomber explode in the Arctic, a 200 foot tall, fire breathing, flying turtle monster (Damn, what were they smoking back then) awakens from it's hibernation and goes on a destructive rampage.

Phantom's Review: Japanese cheese at it's finest. Cool monster, bad dubbing, lots of destruction. And like the original "Godzilla' before it, this film has been "Americanized" with footage showing soldiers, scientists and talk show hosts dealing with the monster. These scenes are hysterical. A fun way to spend an afternoon.

Hi Bill, I think I will and on Tuesday. I saw a few previews of it and liked what I saw. I heard there was another movie out about Lincoln, something like a fantasy thing where he hunted Vampires???? That one I think ill skip :lol: I cant imagine a tall man wearing a Stovepipe hat-battling Vamps. :lol::lol::lol:

I agree Bill, I read all the Bond books,
and thoroughly enjoyed them.
I also thought Sean was made for Bond,
and after much criticism, I think Daniel is now fitting the mould.
Roger was amongst the worst ones,
and you only have to look at the old UK TV series The Saint,
to see how really unconvincing and flimsy he was.

However against the trend I also liked Pierce Brosman in the part

Paranorman stop motion kids movie. Really well put tigether
