A friend gave us the DVD and we found this to be a great family movie. Dwayne Johnson is not a bad actor either. The little girl was priceless!

We watched [imdb]Race to Space[/imdb], an entertaining family movie from 2001 about Project Mercury in 1961. For us baby boomers, it was like stepping back in time to a familiar place. I recommend it!
For some John Wayne references, check out my post in the "Is John Wayne really Luke Skywalker" thread.

Getting ready for the new Indy movie I sat down with my kids and watched Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Always a fun movie....
-
Hot Shots (1991) Charlie Sheen, Lloyd Bridges, Kevin Dunne, Cary Elwes.
A hilarious spoof of Top Gun with a dash of Dancing With Wolves thrown in. It consistantly made me giggle. -
The John Adams series on HBO. great televison.staring Paul Giamatti and Laura Linney as John and Abigail Adams with David Morse as George Washington.
-
Hot Shots: Part Duex (1993) It is easily one of the best spoofs of all time, it takes on Rambo III.
-
Saw some TV special about "Bigfoot" sightings in Texas. It was kinda interesting.
-
Watched for the first time (only about 30 minutes of "Wake of the Red Witch" which I thought was a pretty good movie-for the part I got to see.
Next movie on my to watch list is: "The Adventures of Don Juan" W/ Errol Flynn, Ann Sheridan and Alan Hale Sr. After this one will be another Flynn movie-not sure which one yet-though? -
I was Monty's Double. Entertaining war movie with John Mills

As famous in this thread,I bought the DVD of Casino Royale
and finaly watched last night.
i think it is naturally that it has received great acclaim.
One of the most exciting movie i've ever seen in recent years,i suppose.
Daniel Claig looks like Steve McQueen, don't you think.
his face and his energetic action reminds me McQueen.

The Film "Brannigan" And I liked it a Lot but had not seen the Film in over 25 Years, but as Duke said when He made the Film "It's the same old Story, a Tough Old Lawman comes into Town after The Bad Guy to save the day, But This Time not in Old Tucson, Tombstone or Monument Valley, But in London, England !"

-
Finished watching: "Dive Bomber" and thought it was better than I imagined. Tonight I end my short Errol Flynn marathon w/ Gentleman Jim. This one has Ward Bond in it-for those of us who are Duke fans. ;-D

Went to the movie house and saw Made of Honor with Patrick Dempsey. Not a fan of his and the movie was pretty dull and dumb. Don't waste your time with this movie. I will say that the scenery in Scotland was fantastic, but I can get a travel video of Scotland if I want to see scenery.

Zulu Dawn with Burt Lancaster and Peter O Toole. Excellent movie from director Douglas Hickox (of Brannigan fame)

"The Great Escape," one of the best movies ever made IMO. Note that there is not one female character in the whole film - this is not meant as sexist, only an observation!

We've been replacing our Shirley Temple movies on VHS with DVDs (at around $5/film, with the option of watching it in color or b&w, and the fact that they take up less space, and don't have to be rewound . . . why not?), so we have been on a little Shirley Temple jag the past few days. Also, my 18 year old daughter and I have been watching the TV show "24" on DVD (been borrowing them, by the season, from the library). That show is almost addictive .

It's a guy thing, Jay. -

I agree.....if you like that show, Sue, I'll bet you would enjoy the books by Vince Flynn as the theme of both are almost identical. I think the best Flynn book was "Memorial Day", wherein Flynn's hero, with a little help from pals, thwarted a nuclear attack on D.C. by the terrorists. -
I've spent the past 2 or 3 days watching episodes from the 9th season of "Cheers", which was one of my favorite TV shows until they took it off the air.
So far, I've managed to acquire in DVD form 9 of the 11 seasons of "Cheers", all 8 seasons of "Magnum P.I.", 3 seasons of "Hawaii Five-0" (4th season on order), all 6 seasons of "Miami Vice", 2 seasons of "Columbo", all 6 seasons of "Rockford Files", one season of "Kojak", one season of "WKRP in Cincinnati", 1st season of "Gunsmoke", 25 or 30 episodes of "Bonanza" and miscellaneous other TV shows.
Sure wish they'd release "High Chapparal" on disc as that was one of my favorite TV westerns. IMO, 99 percent of today's TV programming stinks. -
