Glad to meet you... I hope you liked South Dakota, I was born and raised there. I was brought up in the Black Hills because every summer we'd go out and spend time in the Hills, Sturgis, Lead, Deadwood, Custer, Hill City, etc. It's a great state and lots of history. Only thing that happened is Deadwood turned into a little Vegas... not impressed. Enjoy the site.

Thank you.
I really like South Dakota.
I´ve been to those towns as well, and you are so right about Deadwood.
I went there for the first time 20 years ago and that was a town right out of the history books.Gravel in the streets and a great western mood.
Then I came back i 95 and what a bummer ! Major disapointment. -

I know what you mean... downtown now looks like a giant neon bulb. It was so beautiful and still authentic 25 years ago and Kevin Costner and others had to move in and ruin the city.

You know the funny thing I've noticed about Sturgis is that the closer you get to town the more bullet holes you'll see in the highway signs.

Kevin Costner will do it everytime!!

It ain't Costner - it's all those bikers showing off their marksmanship skills. -
Thanks Stumpy!! I was going to have to add a "Aw Come on!!" but you beat me to it!! HEHEHE!!

Sturgis has it's fair share of trouble every year. The 50th anniversary I think they had like 250,000 people show up when they usually get less than 100,000. First part of August, the Black Hills is not the place to be.

Poor ol' Kevin C****** - everybody picks on him! He sure is a lot better than the young whippersnappers like Federline, et al.

Poor C****** my butt... he tried to buy off our legislatures to allow for no-limit gambling or he wouldn't open his casino... well, we never gave him the no-limit he wanted and he still opened the casino. At least in South Dakota 50% goes to education, no personal or corporate income tax. We always run in a surplus. In Illinois who knows where the money goes and we have a 3% income tax. But I had to move to get married. Some day I'll get her back to South Dakota and the beautiful 100' of snow each winter.
Slid right by me... POST 600

Well I'm 49, and have loved going to see John Wayne movies, since you could go on Saturdays for 50 cents (And that included a pop & popcorn!)
I'm from NW Iowa (Le Mars), about 150 miles from Winterset.
I have ton of the Duke's memorabilia, including a authentic John Wayne business card, signed from the making of the Alamo.
