  • hi kilo

just to help you out with you many questions

firstly a chook is a chicken but we call them chooks

a ute is like the big fords that most of the farmers use in america you know with either single cab or twin cab and an open tray with small sides you see them in some of the movies

roo dog is used for chasing down and catching and pulling down roos some of them are also used for pig hunting. the one we had he was a lazy one and had to be chucked of a moving ute before he would start the hunt but he was a good hunter got done in by a wild boar about 5 years after we gave him away but he did the pig in before he died.

didnt raise roos we just hunted them

a jenny roo is a young female roo who is sort of still in the pouch will come out to eat but still sleeps in the mothers pouch at night we got her from a road kill mum dead but she was still alive till pete(the dog) did her in we had her for about 3 months a little i think she was grey but could have been a red.

as for the dog in quigely i will have to have another look at the movie and will get back to you about the breed.

got your pm and sent you a reply hope you got it

  • Hi Smokey,
It is really very interesting, what you write about your life in Australia and kenguroos.
For a pity I always foget how much santimetres are in foot. My son is 177 sm tall, I don't know how much it is in foot.

watched quigely and now i can tell you what the dogs are suppose to be. they are suppose to be dingos but they are way to fat for them to be pure breed dingo so all i can think of is that they are dogs that they used for the movie as to have a dingo you are required to have a licence as they are in some states considered to be a pest but they are our native dog. a pure dingo is way skinnier then the ones in the movie the only fat dingos that i have ever seen are the ones that live in the highlands where it snows and they look fatter as they have a double coat but as this movie was filmed in the northern territory, northern western aust the dogs there would have been a lot thiner they do tend to look under feed.

    hope this helps you out

    till later hooroo smokey

ps have attached a photo of a couple of dingos going for a walk at australia zoo run by steve erwin hope this will help you to see the differences i was talking about

  • I was aways under the impression that dingoes were strictly wild dogs that could not be tamed or domesticated in any way, Smokey. And now you show us a picture of them being walked by zoo keepers. So much for my erroneous impressions. ;)

After taking a closer look at that thumbnail photo, I have to say that the little honey on the left can walk me on a leash any time.

  • Hello All Just in from a day off that evolved into a 9 hour visit with friends. Talked about this board with one who is reading and may join later. Thanks for the picture and info Smokey. Stumpy do I dispatch oxygen for your breathless appreciation of the dingo walker  Jay you are a true gentleman. Ethan Edwards I dream now of pints in a friendly local pub. Would the staff toss you out on your whatevers for asking for cold pints? :fear: Time for a nap before chores and then work at 1500 TTFN Kilo

Umm, This first thing I think of with all those pills is the side effects. I would be that one guy who has to go to the doctor cause "it" was still at attention after a couple hours!!!!

Wish I still had that problem. Unfortunately, 67 years and the ill effects of diabetes have combined to put a serious crimp in my formerly formidable prowess.

  • Hi Vera,
Don't like to say this, but perhaps this board,
is not the right place to be discussing the birds and the bees!!
It's a very 'hard' subject to approach!!
