  • Yep, there were a few cliched things in BRO but I think what I liked the most about it was watching Lee Marvin in action as well as Mark Hamill (fresh from fame as Luke Skywalker)

I agree 100%. Lee Marvin makes the movie and Mark Hamil does a fine job. The guy I had trouble with was the narrator, Robert Carradine. I cannot get over him in Revenge of the Nerds, even though it was made 4 years later. He just seems like a wimp to me.

I agree and I never could get over it with him being in a Sam Fuller war movie.

Forgot to mention that last night, I watched: The Count of Monte Cristo. (The version that had Richard Harris in it) Nice version and its a movie that is easily enjoyable.

  • Currently watching as time permits, Bridge on the River Kwai. I've never seen this movie from beginning to end but will this time around.

  • I watched Borat last night. And I can only describe this movie as "god awful!!"

Don''t let somebody tell you that this film is soooooo funny!! Cause IMHO, it is not.

Oh and this film is not for kids either. But just pass on it instead of torturing yourself. You would probably have more fun pulling your own finger nails out, that's how bad and stupid this film is!!!

  • I'm watching the latest Bond movie "Casino Royale" today. Had to take a break as it's a pretty long film but from what I've seen so far, not bad at all. The physical stunts in this movie are unbelievable, especially in the first 10 or 15 minutes. Puts Yakima to shame.

Also I think Craig makes a pretty damned good Bond. Not nearly as handsome as Sean, Roger and the others but a very attractive male in a rugged sort of way. (No, folks, I'm not limp wristed. )

Highly recommend the movie for those of you who like actioners.

  • Nothing wrong with Cannonball II, I like both of them. ;-D

Watched the rest of: Bridge on the River Kwai, last night. I wanted to watch: Star Trek but, that damned TVLand seems to have taken it off their messed up schedule. >;-((

  • We finished season 5 of Magnum P.I. and will start in on season six soon. But tonight we watched Shirley Temple, Captain January, from 1936, with an appearance by Buddy Ebsen singing and dancing with Shirley Temple (long before his "millionaire" days . . . ). We have an extensive collection of Shirley Temple on VHS, and I guess now we'll start getting them on DVD, so we can retire the tapes (or share them).

  • Damn that TVLand.

Yup, that station is increasingly becoming a frustrating event in order to try watching somehting I like. If I had the money, i'd buy all the shows they show that I like on DvD and say the heck with their station.

  • TCM had a night long theme going on yesterday. They were saluting the peoples of the U.K. by playing movies like: Battle of Britain and Mrs. Minerver (SP?) Anyway, I watched BoB, then when it was over, I watched Tora, Tora, Tora, on AMC. I then stayed up and watched the Duke in: The Flying Leathernecks. Oh and before I left the house today, they were playing the Duke in: The Green Berets. So I saw him some this morning too.

  • Hi GT, no problem there. All are out on DvD. Im looking forward to AMC's Western Weekend--I only HOPE that they do not play that stupid movie The Quick and the Dead.
