Just to name a few :)

Es Ist Verboten Mit Gefangenen In Einzelhaft Zu Sprechen..

• In looking over some of those names, it really brings home to me how time is flying.

For instance, Russ Tamblyn, one of the most baby-faced actors in Hollywood. My gosh, Russ is three years older than me. Hard to believe.

And Karl Malden, one of my favorite character actors, 92 for gosh sakes. Why, I just watched "The Cincinnati Kid" on VHS the other day and old Karl didn't look a day over 60.

Kinda depressing to think that many of the people I grew up with aren't long for this world.

De gustibus non est disputandum

• :cowboy: Hello Stumpy, I agree with you. I can't believe at how fast time is flying. As a prime example: The Beaver (Jerry Mathers) is now 56!! His "Brother" is 59 (Tony Dow)

One that really surprised me that he was still living was Bruce Bennett. There were several others as well.

I have the movie: The Longships. It has Russ Tamblyn in it as Richard Widmarks Viking Brother. He was also good in: "Take The High Ground" which also has Richard Widmark and Karl Malden in it.

TRK.

• I saw a few names on that list that I swore were long gone also. Glad to hear they are still with us. I remember Karl Malden from The Streets of San Fransisco and hadn't seen him in much else until a friend gave me a few old westerns on DVD. One of them was a movie titled "One-Eyed Jacks" with Malden in it and Marlon Brando. I was pleased to see Ben Johnson have a decent size part in it also. I enjoyed the movie very much. I am guilty of not watching many of the older westerns and am often glad when I give one a chance. Thanks for sharing that list with us, Ringo!

"I couldn't go to sleep at night if the director didn't call 'cut'. "

• A pretty good list. Of course the problem with a list like this you miss some that should have made the list like:

Jerry Lewis - 78
Terry Moore - 75 (Mighty Joe Young (1949) "Jill Young," Peyton Place (1957) "Betty Anderson, " Come Back, Little Sheba (1952) "Marie Buckholder ")
Andy Griffith - 78
Don Knotts - 80
Robert Blake - 71 (Baretta, Little Rascals)
Frank Cady - 88 (Petticoat Junction, Green Acres "Sam Druker")
Elizabeth Taylor - 72
Tippi Hedren - 73 (The Birds)
Robert Reford - 67
Paul Newman - 79
Joanne Woodward - 74 (Long Hot Summer, married to Paul Newman)
Larry Hagman - 73 (Dallas, I Dream of Jeannie)
Bob Denver - 69 (Gilligan's Island "Gilligan")
Tina Louise - 70 (Gilligan's Island "Ginger")
Carl Reiner - 82
Dick Van Dyke - 79
Rose Marie - 81
Peter O'Tool - 72 (Lawrence of Arabia)
Julie Andrews - 69 (The Sound of Music, Mary Poppins)
William Schallert - 82 (The Patty Duke Show)
Warren Beatty - 67 (Bonnie & Clyde)
Bruce Dern - 68 (The Cowboys, The War Wagon)
Tom Lester - 64 (Green Acres "Eb Lawson" the Douglas hired hand)
Mary Tyler Moore - 68 on December 29th

And like I said, I'm sure there are others who I missed as well.

Cheers B)

My earliest recollection of Karl was as the saloon owner in 1950's "The Gunfighter" with Gregory Peck in the title role. A good Western.

• :cowboy: Hello Dukefan, Hondo, Stumpy.

Dukefan, thanks and Hondo, thanks for your list as well. I wish I could have had the time to copy all the ones down that was listed on their site. I purposedly left out sports figures and other catagories because of lack of time. There were several not listed on that list that should be there like: Skip Homeier, Hans Gudegast/Eric Braeden, Pierre Jalbert, Jack Hogan, Steven (Rick) Rogers, Tom Lowell, etc. I'm most positive I left out many who deserves to be mentioned.

Quite welcome Stumpy. TRK.

Is Dana Andrews (Steve Forrest's brother)still alive?

Regards - Jay

According to this, Jay, he died in 1992. I thought he was a much underrated actor. My favorite Dana Andrews role was in "Canyon Passage", with Susan Hayward, Lloyd Bridges, Ward Bond, Brian Donlevy, Andy Devine and best of all, Hoagy Carmichael singing "Ole Buttermilk Sky".

De gustibus non est disputandum

• :cowboy: Sadly, yep, he did pass away sometime ago. I liked Canyon passage with him and he was also great as a Colonel in Battle of the Bulge w/ Henry Fonda, Robert Ryan, Telly Savalas, Charles Bronson, George Montgomery (MacArthurs Sergeant), Robert Shaw (as the German Panzer Colonel) James MacArthur, Karl-Otto Alberty as Major Dieple (Commander of the attached German Infantry Battalion) Ty Hardin (as the German Commando unit leader) Hans-Christian Bleth as the Panzer unit leader's aide.

Learn something new every day though, I had not known that he was Steve Forrest's brother--till now. Steve Forrest has always been one of my al-time favorite actors.

• :cowboy: Quite welcome IHW. There are also many more that I wanted to list but have not had the time. For this list it's in a link someone posted for me sometime back on where to look for who passed away in 2004. I forget who posted the link but it is in that topic. They also list poiticians, sports figres and such. This list I kept it at those who entertain us on screen.

Best regards--The Ringo Kid.

• It is so cool that all these great actors are still with us It would be awesome to shake their hands and thank them for all the good memories they have left us with. When I think of all of the other great actors who have passed and forever alive and young in TV and DVD immortality we are so fortunate to be able to tune into TMC FMC or AMC and take a trip back in time to a better place. As Norma Desmond stated in Sunset Blvd. the stars never die they are timeless.

NOT THE BRANDY YOU DOPE!

• Hi

Some others who are still with us and who all appeared in a picture with John Wayne (though not neccessarily in a scene with him)

Stephen Hudis
Huddleston David
Hunt Marsha
Hopper Dennis
Henney Del
Headley Jack
Haworth Jill
Grimes Gary
Sian Phillips

Mike Henry was born 1939

Can anyone give me an update on the career of Robert Blake, The last I heard he was facing trial fro murder did this actually come about or is it still pending.

Regards

• Hi

Ringo mentioned Richard Todd he took part in the D Day landings as a paratrooper and also appeared in The Longest Day also as a paratrooper storming Pegasus Bridge.
In the seventies I watched him perform in a play at our local theatre, and last year managed to get an autographed photo and a programme he autographed.

He's still on trial, Arthur. No verdict has been reached.

• :cowboy: I'm glad too that so many are still with us. It's sad though that so many of the greats are gone. Normally i'll not watch certain movies like: The Best Years of Our Lives but except that Dana Andrews was in that film, and it also showed life like it was when the WWII vets returned to changed homes and families. I'm more into almost anything except for romance and many dramas. Luckily though, I also have a somewhat open mind about giving movies and such a chance. Now I can say that I have given The Best Years of Our Lives a chance because I did watch it and actually learned something from seeing it. Now, I am glad that I did watch that movie.

Boy it sure is amazing at how far I can also go to being almost off topic as well. :D

• Im not sure if you mentioned Charles Lane on your list, but I just noticed he is still living. He will be 100!!! on Jan. 26th.

• Hi, IHW, thanks for his name as well. I don't think I mentioned anybody's name of those who's names I was not familiar with.

Also, if you think 100 is a tough age to get. I have a friend who lives in Bavaria in Germany who is now 107. He is Friedolin von Spaun. And thankfully, he is still doing well and going for daily long walks.
