  • Hi,

    Quite often, members have PC
    and technical problems, and questions.
I for one, have often searched the internet,
for help, in the various technical forums

It occurred to me, particulary, in the
Format Changes thread, that some of our members,
    (SXViper, for example)
have sound knowledge in technical areas.

I hope that this thread, can be used,
as an in-house Forum, so to speak.
So if any member has a PC or
    Technical problem, one of our
fellow members, may be able to help.

Which leads me nicely to this!!
Ha ha I have a question!

Does any member have a sound knowledge
of, how to set up Outlook, Rules and Alerts?
for my family PC, which has 4 user accounts!

    Best Wishes

  • I still have a problem with this site in that every lime I leave it I'm logged out even though I have selected the 'remember me tick box. This is the only site in which this happens, is there any way to rectify this problem.

    Thanks

  • Thanks Kevin,

    I've checked out your link.
Due to a problem, I lost my original set of R & A's.
Specifically, I am using Office Outlook for my Email accounts,
but I want all mails,in and out, through, me the primary user,
and then Rules and Alerts set up, so that they will
will be directed into the kids, Email boxes in their user accounts.
Their own Email addresses, are already set up.

    So, if anyone knows,

A/ What R&A, do I enter in my Account,
    B/ Ditto the other accounts.

  • Robbie, if you are using IE(Microsoft's Internet Explorer) I think you might be just battling one of the many dreaded IE bugs. I too have problems on certain sites and I cannot seem to get it figured out. So, I have switched to Mozilla as my browser. I have no trouble surfing the web with Mozilla. Just go to Mozilla Web site . It is a very easy to setup and use bowser and not much different in functionality then IE. Hope that helps.

  • Robbie,

Not sure what might be causing this. If you log in to the site from dukewayne.com then you come back later and use the http://WWW.dukewayne.com then your browser will make you log back in.

I use mozilla Firefox myself and have not experienced this issue.

  • Hi,

    I agree with Todd,
I've used Firefox (Mozilla) for nearly 2 years,
and found it much better than IE.
Hardly any pop-ups, that you suffer with IE

  • I am not MS Outlook user so I don't have allot of knowledge about this mail program. I use Outlook Express. My kids have a seperate computer that I have set up and when(not yet because of age) they are ready for email then I will just setup a mail program with there addresses on that computer. I like to keep then off my main system just in case they screw up something I am not reloading my main system.

Sorry I couldn't help on this problem.

  • I'm not sure I could write to you how to do it, but if you have MSN or Yahoo, I would be more than happy to try and talk you through it. I have set up rules and such so that my emails go to certain folders but I have not delt with sending other email acounts to other inboxes. Tomorrow I will take a look at my outlook and see if I can figure it out.

  • Ok, will do and I will try and remember the time difference :)

  • Thanks, it's now 1:00 am here,
I usually drift off about 2:00 am.
    Thanks for your help.
I have PC whiz kids as neighbours, but
they can not figure out R&A's.

  • Keith,

Sorry, but my question concerned the difference in Blu-Ray and HD DVD. The topic that you mentioned was the format change from DVD to the newest technology. I am just getting educated from members here about the advantages of this and not the expense of it. Right now, I can not afford this, but like to see if this is going to take over like the CD's to the vinyl records or even, dare I say, the cassettes from the 8-tracks (must be showing my age here).

The way I see this is when the video came out over 20 years ago, the competition was between the VHS and the beta. The VHS won out as history shows even though beta was far more superior in quality but just didn't take maybe due to availability, cost, and convenience. Not sure but it may had to do with the way it was marketed to the consumer.

So my question was geared toward something completely different.

Thanks Todd for the information. Do you know if these machines and discs are set up in regions? And does anyone have one and can tell me about this. I think I knew that these machines are played only on HDTV. I was told that Blu-Ray could not play the regular DVDs.

    Cheers B)

  • Well just to say how this thread has worked!!

erthomp 143, contacted me by MSN
and last evening spent over an hour,
going through this problem, step by step with me.
We concluded, late UK time, and this morning
I did what he told me, and Hey Presto it worked.

A problem I've had for over a year, quickly solved.

My many thanks to erthomp for his valuable time.

One thing is clear, with members like erthomp on board,
we have a great spirit, and depth of friendship.

    Many thanks.

Thanks also, to Kevin and Todd, for their comments too.

  • Hi Sxiper and Kevin

Thanks for alerting me to 'firefox' it seems to be quite a good browser and it has solved my logging out problem.

Incidentally how can I set dukewayne.com as my homepage using 'firefox', I used to m
be able to do it via internet options within the control panel of Windows but this does not work anymore.

    Thanks again.
