Since 1948, I've been an avid fan of the University of Oklahoma's football team, the Sooners. To me, it's almost orgasmic when they beat the Texas Longhorns. :lol: And this from a guy who was born and has lived much of his life in Texas.

I don't wish to sound too dull but watching John Wayne movies always cheers me up.

I'm also partial to a little socialising with friends on a Saturday night.

A lorry carrying flowers had crashed somehow, it was sitting in a strange position in the centre of Bristol last Friday and it´s crew was giving away huge bunches of flowers to everybody passing by. That made a square-full of happy people! And it didn´t harm that sun was shining

What cheers me up? Well, my weekly dinner with my favorite gal - Cindy. My nightly sittings on the porch watching my cats at play. A good classic movie. A few glasses of iced tea. And my time spent with the great folks from this site.

Hi Nathan, definately sweetened. I just can't get used to drinking tea without sweetener. However, I have been drinking some Chrystal Light at times as well, and it actually does taste pretty good without sweetener.

Relaxing with my family in any setting, but preferably while I'm BBQing and drinking sweet tea. Ideally, a little country or tejano music playing in the background and the kids running around screaming for no apparent reason other than they are glad to see their cousins.

p.s. My little girl (3 years old) and my wife are taking riding lessons. My little girl is a natural and looks terrific. My wife is getting used to the saddle and soreness, but I think we just jumped a major hurdle in purchasing our first horses next year. I can't think of much that beats having all of us horseback and enjoying the trail.

Making people laugh! I worked in radio, did a little stand-up comedy, and last year, I got to write, produce and act in a comedy-western play. Nothing better to me than when the timing is right, the delivery works, and the audience leaves the theater still laughing!

I think the most positive things that have happened in my life were helping the wife raise three fine, productive children who have become good citizens. And then watching those three father and mother (we have two sons and one daughter) seven other great kids.

Another very positive part of my life was spending 25 years in the military, helping defend my country, and making some great friends in the process.
Most people in the military, if they're really into it, feel like a member of one big close-knit family.

i m with you on this one robbie - no matter what sort of day i ve had, i can put a john wayne movie on and be transported to another world

As some here know, im a bit of a WWII Eastern Front buff. Well, since I was last here-I became the proud owner of several significant and original photos dealing with that non-American theater of war.

Pic 1) Is THE original and is one that has been used in numerous books about the Battle of Stalingrad. This photo shows two German Sergeants (An Oberfeldwebel and a Hauptfeldwebel) sheltering behind some rubble on some street in Stalingrad. THe Oberfeld is motioning his men to attack while the Hauptfeld keeps watch to their front. Like I said, this is a well-known and very famous photo and I own it.

Pic 2) Shows a Heavy German Tank called a Brummbar (Grizzly Bear) which is preparing to go into battle at the Battle of Kursk (histories greatest tank battle) This Brumm Bar was part of the unit made up of 66 Brummbars that first saw action at Kursk. This particular unit was the 216th Panzer Battalion of the 21st Panzer Brigade attached to the 9th Army in Army Group Center. It was armed with a 150 mm gun.

Pic 3-4 are two of the same unit of Panzergrenadiers who also rode into battle at Kursk on the backs of Panzer IVs.

So yep, getting these photos have cheered me up quite a bit.

Forgot to mention that pic Nr 2 also has been published in several books about both the Eastern Front as well as Kursk, is THE original and is a very famous photo.
